Here at Inspirations for Youth and Families (IYF) our teens are exposed to a very wide range of therapeutic treatments. Some of these therapies include music, yoga, family and art therapy. With our individualized treatment plan we provide our clients with best forms of therapy to suit their needs.
Our clients are often beginners or have never experienced these forms of therapy before and we delight in teaching everyone from experts to the amateurs on how to use these activities to a therapeutic advantage. The skills learned while at Inspirations often serve as hobbies and coping activities our teens use when they return home.
These unconventional therapy methods are what sets IYF from other teen rehabs who use a more rigid or one size fits all treatment plan. Not all clients are the same and their issues should be handled according to their needs.
During our recent art therapy session we introduced collages, mosaics and painting to our teens. We gave them several assignments and their art works is a great representation of their emotions as well as their hard work. We are very proud to be displaying these images.
Here we challenged some of our clients to depict what a happy and sad day feels like to them:[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][FAGP id=10681]
We also asked some of our female clients to re-define an image by paint over an existing photograph or ads:[FAGP id=10684]

Why art is used as a therapy tool at Inspirations?
Creating art allows our teens express what is uppermost in their minds. Art Therapy helps our psychotherapist understand the teens perceptions and feelings about what has happened in the past – or what is happening in the present. Looking at the artwork and talking about what was created also helps out teens find a way to communicate what may be hard to say in words.
The purpose of our Art Therapy at Inspirations Youth is to help our teens express concepts that they may not be able to articulate. The drawing, painting, collage, or sculpture can then help bridge artistic expression into verbal expression. And from there, healing begins.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
