Justin Bieber, 19, was arrested in Miami Beach, Florida early Thursday morning on charges of DUI and drag racing, according to a police spokesman. Beiber’s entourage had blocked off traffic at about 4:30 a.m. on Pine Tree Drive at 26th street to allow the pop star to drag race in a Lamborghini.
Bieber failed a field sobriety test and later tests showed that he was under the influence of drugs, according to the Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez. Bieber had admitted to police that he had been smoking marijuana all day and he had consumed anti-depressants. He also admitted to having a beer.
Bieber did not have a valid driver’s license and he resisted arrest without violence by refusing to take his hands out of his pockets. Bieber will be booked into jail at the police station and then taken to the county for processing.
It’s been a bad month for the young star. Earlier in January, Bieber’s neighbor at his home in Los Angeles accused the singer and his friends of throwing eggs and causing about $20,000 worth of damage. Police officers searched Bieber’s home and arrested his friend, rapper Lil Za (a.k.a. Xavier Smith) for felony narcotics possession and felony vandalism after damaging a phone in his holding cell.
